Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist, who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India’s independence from British rule, and in turn inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.

He preached that all living beings were an embodiment of the divine self; therefore, service to God could be rendered by service to humankind.

Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, also known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, was an Indian polymath – philosopher, jurist, economist, politician, social reformer, journalist, writer, sociologist, and anthropologist. He inspired the Dalit Buddhist movement and campaigned against social discrimination towards the untouchables.

Mother Theresa founded a congregation that manages homes for people who are dying of HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis. It also runs soup kitchens, dispensaries, mobile clinics, children’s and family counselling programs, as well as orphanages and schools.
